Amad Diallo is one of the most promising Manchester United players, a 23-year-old Ivory Coast winger. In spite of the tough 2024-25 season, he generally performed very well.

He has emerged as a magnificent player and was one of the few bright sparks in United’s otherwise miserable campaign. He has been given a fresh five-year deal until 2030 showing the club’s trust in him. Amad looks set to take a lot of attacking responsibility at United under Amorim in 2025.

Fitting perfectly in Amorim’s plan

Since Ruben Amorim became Manchester United’s manager in November 2024, Amad has been improving. He can play as a winger, wing-back or attacking midfielder which suits Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. Last season he registered 8 goals and 6 assists in 26 Premier League games including a thrilling winner against Manchester City.

He’s a hard worker in attack and defence, making him a great fit for Amorim’s high-pressing system. After an ankle injury in February 2025, he quickly returned and reminded the manager and fans what they’d been missing. His adaptability and work rate will be key to United’s plans for 2025–26.

Building strength from challenges

Amad’s journey to Manchester United’s first team was not easy but he stayed determined. He joined from Atalanta in 2021 for around £37 million but got little playing time under Erik ten Hag. Loans to Rangers and Sunderland helped him grow with 13 goals in 37 league games for Sunderland.

A knee injury in 2023 kept him out for five months but he returned to score a key goal against Liverpool in the 2024 FA Cup. His hard work and ability to play different roles have earned fans’ respect. He’s also willing to put in a shift regardless of whether he starts. Diallo has had his fair share of hardship and has spent plenty of time on the bench, but his knack for scoring dramatic last minute goals has made him a favourite for those who live bet with NetBet.

Scoring in important games

Amad has a knack for performing when it matters most and fans of Manchester United love seeing it. He scored a late goal against Manchester City in December 2024 which was voted as the club’s best goal putting his stamp on it.

He has also scored late to draw with Liverpool and in January 2025 scored a hat-trick against Southampton to make him United’s youngest Premier League hat-trick scorer at Old Trafford. These moments show that when faced with adversity and in essential moments he won’t buckle under the pressure.

Last season he weighed in with 11 goals and 6 assists across all competitions. As United look to improve their results in the Premier League and cup competitions his record of scoring in big games will be key.

Earning a new contract

In January 2025, Amad signed a new contract with Manchester United until 30 June 2030, highlighting the club’s trust in Amad. Technical director Jason Wilcox stated that Amad “is a terrific player, with great skill, versatility, and a great worth ethic – this is why he will be key to the plans for the future”.

In a season for United that ended with a 15th place finish in the League Amad’s appearances and performances stand out as one of the few highlights. Amad has expressed his desire to achieve great things at this club, giving hope to supporters. He really gives the impression of a player that plays for the badge and not themself.

Standing out among teammates

Amad is shining brighter than many of United’s young players like Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund. He averaged 1.65 key passes per game (ranking 11th in the Premier League) and created 49 chances in 26 games. Transfermarkt estimates his value rose to around €45 million by May 2025. Fans on social media call him a key player to build the team around. As United rebuilds Amad’s skills make him a standout for 2025.

Competing with new signings

New players like Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo may push for Amad’s position in the team. He might have to play as a wing-back or be negated for an attacking position in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation. Amad’s speed, dribbling ability and 1.8 tackles a match are an impossible combination to replace.

He is being touted on social media as a genuine threat in those positions. A full pre-season will allow him to keep ahead of his competitors. The way he’s adapted and performed previouslygive confidence that he’ll find his way into the team in one way or another, and will continue to shine for United.

With the new contract, Amad is ready to show the United faithful his best work. As the 2025-26 season approaches, fans are optimistic that Amad will help to guide United back to glory after a torrid time since Sir Alex Ferguson departed the club.
