Along with several other players deemed surplus to requirements this summer, Manchester United are preparing to sanction the sale of Alejandro Garnacho.

It’s a prospect that would’ve seemed almost unthinkable for the Old Trafford faithful this time last year – just a month after the youngster notched the opening goal of United’s FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City. If you want to be as lucky as he was that day, try using Slotbox.

Throughout 2024/2025, Garnacho contributed a total of 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions, marking a career-best campaign.

Why Garnacho is headed for the Old Trafford exit

Yet, his efforts on the pitch haven’t proven enough for Ruben Amorim to overlook his questionable attitude off of it.

When speaking to reporters after the full-time whistle in Bilbao last Wednesday, Garnacho rued the fact he’d been dropped for the Europa League final, labelled United’s season as ‘sh*t’ and hinted at a potential move away when finishing his media duties by saying: “I’ll enjoy my summer and then we’ll see.”

In the days after the incident, it was revealed that Garnacho had been told by Amorim to ‘pray’ he can find another club – and he won’t be short of options when the window opens.

Whether any of his suitors will fork out the £60 million price tag set by United remains to be seen. They’re keen to make their money’s worth from his exit, and any transfer fee he generates will be classed as pure profit to give the board a major boost in their bid to comply with the Profit and Sustainability laws.

Who’s interested in the Carringon graduate?

In regards to where the 20-year-old livewire could end up, it’s thought that both Chelsea and Napoli could revive their interest after holding talks with him in the January window; the newly-crowned Serie A champions had a £45m offer rejected in the winter and opted against returning with an improved proposal.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will likely be looking to bolster Enzo Maresca’s options after securing Champions League qualification, with the move also allowing Garnacho to continue plying his trade in the Premier League, having spent the last five years in England.

Recent reports have suggested that Aston Villa could emerge as surprise contenders in the race, along with Bayer Leverkusen, which would see him reunite with the manager who granted him his first taste of first-team action: Erik ten Hag.

The Bundesliga outfit are preparing to bid farewell to their forward talisman Florian Wirtz when the window opens, meaning attacking reinforcements will be crucial if they have any chance of re-claiming their league title from Bayern Munich’s tight grasp in 2025/2026.
