Not just Mainoo – Another Ten Hag favourite is leaving Man Utd after ‘reaching agreement’ next club

Manchester United could be set to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho who is reportedly in line for a return to Atletico Madrid.

In recent days, a report from The Guardian revealed that the club failed to convince Kobbie Mainoo to sign a contract extension, so the academy product could be heading towards the exit door at the end of the season.

But according to Fichajes.net, the England international may not be the only young Red who is set to change air in the summer, as Garnacho is also on his way out of Carrington. As the Spanish source explains, the 20-year-old isn’t considered a key player in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system.

The winger has been seeing more playing time as of late, mainly due to Amad Diallo’s injury, but the results have been mixed. Moreover, the Argentine caused a stir when he walked straight down the tunnel after being sacrificed in favour of defensive reinforcement when Patrick Dorgu saw red against Ipswich, a gesture that surely hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The manager then tried to rectify the situation, telling the young player to make amends by inviting his teammates to dinner, but several signs suggest Garnacho is no longer a favourite at Amorim’s court as he used to be when Erik ten Hag was in charge. And let’s not forget about his squad omission ahead of the Manchester Derby.

Therefore, the source claims Atletico Madrid have pounced on the situation and have already reached an agreement in principle with the player’s entourage. This would be a homecoming for Garnacho who started his career with the Spanish capital side before being poached by Man Utd in 2018.

Diego Simeone would be happy to grant him a prominent role and link him up with an Argentinian contingent that includes former Man City striker Julian Alvarez and the manager’s son Giuliano.

  1. The Guardian has nothing but click bait rumours like most of the media eager to stir up trouble

  2. Is this demonstrating the demoralising decisions of the Glazer’s, Ratcliffe, the Board and the Manager? All of them are helping to destroy United, its History and its future. Players like Mainoo and Garnacho are the life of the Club, what does it say to others in the Academy when these two wish to leave at such a young age?

    1. Do not believe all the rubbish written by football journalists. One writes a thumbsuck story and the next day 50 newspapers repeat it.

    2. It’s media rubbish so bereft of a good story the make it up as they go along

    3. Nope… players who want to play for the club, team and manager are the lifeline of the club. Many times I watch Garna play. He’s good, but lack the finishing touches or execution… there are situations you’d expect him to play with the team, but he’d choose to go by himself and ditch it

  3. To me both young players have allowed their egos to precede their form and importance. Garnacho I had previously lost my love for him when he had declared that his dream was to play for RM. Mainoo def needs an increase in wages from the 20K but realistically he has been injured a lot and whilst shows flashes of brilliance fails to dominate and be consistent. If his entourage believe he can do better elsewhere without swearing blood to earn his keep, by all means leave. I sit on the side that players wages need to be structured with a base wage agreed, for Mainoo say 80k a week with weekly bonuses added on with bonuses say Starting and playing all game earns $0,ad a sub $, as a bench player $, MOTM $, assist/goal $, training performance $, etc etc with deductions also applicable for Stupid behavior on and off the pitch.

    1. What is the evidence that Maiboo is leaving for the money. He is unlikely to earn more than Man Utd is offering elsewhere, so he must believe he will thrive well elsewhere for football reasons.

  4. I think it is a disgrace to lose both of these players
    The manager is the problem
He can’t change his tactics. We need to go back to 4 4 2 before we lose all the best youth players

  5. Both players have been told they will be sold in the summer, so small blame to them if they decide to preempt that by sorting their own futures.
I imagine all our Academy players are feeling demotivated at present; no matter how good they are, chances are they’ll be sold due to financial restrictions. In fact, the better they are, the more likely it is they’ll be sold.

  6. Iet grenacio and mainoo go there are far better players in the academy raring to go and there will be plenty of games left in the Premier ship to have a look at them

  7. Unhappy players that caanot adapt and respect their responsibilities towards the club and coaching staff, should by all means leave for their behavior and performance will only harm the club.

  8. Mainoo is a good player but lacks pace ,Garnacho hasn’t scored a goal since amorins arrival sell them both and bring in players that fit the system and have better finishing skills then they won’t be missed.

  9. This is because the Glazers did not sell Man Utd to the right man. Instead of them selling it to the Qatarian, they sold the club to Ratcliffe and they are seeing the result.

    1. For me I love ganar and mainoo so much but no player is bigger than the Man UTD. Since they sees themselves better outside the team we should let them go. As it stands now Man UTD didn’t need a virus like Sancho, Pogba, lukaku, martial and rashford anymore. We have yougsters like Moore house, Fletcher, Kone, scanlon, biancherri and Abragimov who will save us millions of pounds

  10. Mainoo…average
    Garnacho…above average
Get rid of both and bank the money.
Don’t need these player when we’re playing in the championship.

  11. I do think that both Mainoo and Garnacho will be moved on this summer. Ineos, just have to get money in to buy at least 4/5 players this summer and with both of these players worth more than others to the PSR , I think they will be sacrificed along with Rashford.
Yes, we have some great youngsters coming through ( I hope next season) and adding some experience and players who can play the system Amorim wants to play to the team, I think we will be fine next season.
Amorim just has to be given a chance.

  12. I really do feel sorry for mainoo I mean come on at nineteen years old and only earning £20000 per week just how does he manage I understand that a player only has a limited time at the top but really how many people who go to the games each week are earning twenty thousand pounds a year never mind a week too many footballers are in it for massive wages and not for the game

    1. I don’t get the bit about amorin. ‘My system Amorin’ and his system [ collect money??] I wish manu would appoint a coach. Amorin is not a coach. A real coach comes to a group of players and these are great players, he works out how to use them, to use their tremendous skills to the best advantage of the team. The players he and ten hag sent away, now working with real coaches are
brilliant players again. Oh but ‘my system amorin’ can’t work out what’s best for manu to win games. ‘My system amorin’ everyone should play my system from day 1. What a clown. Liverpool sure are a lot smarter than “Jim Glazer” and his assistants. Give Man U back to the supporters.

  13. The trubble today is, new manager’s aren’t given enough time, owners want results and trophies and quick, people forget that Fergie took 6 years to win a trophy, it’s hard being a manager at a top club in these days, unfortunately the game has changed for the worst and I can’t see it getting better anytime soon…
