Manchester United are finally on the verge of parting ways with Antony, which could also help them land one of their primary January targets.

On Friday morning, Fabrizio Romano delivered his trademark ‘here we go’, signalling the Brazilian’s imminent transfer to Real Betis.

The 24-year-old will fly to Spain to undergo his medical before signing his papers and becoming the Andalusians’ newest acquisition This move would put an end to a miserable two-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford, albeit he’s only leaving on a dry loan.

The player who arrived from Ajax on a large transfer fee (£86 million) and much fanfare is leaving from the backdoor after failing to leave his mark in the Premier League. He only managed to score 12 goals and provide five assists in his 96 appearances for the club.

According to The Atheltic, Antony’s transfer will allow the club to save around £1.5 million, as Real Betis will be covering part of his salary.

Getting rid of Antony could boost Man Utd chances of landing Patrick Dorgu

Antony could find his haven at Real Betis

While this might be a small figure compared to the club’s astronomical wage bill, it could have a substantial effect on the club’s pursuit of Patrick Dorgu.

As reported earlier in the day, Man Utd are embroiled in crunch negotiations with Lecce for the potential transfer of the 20-year-old Denmark international. As The Athletic explains, the Red Devils have submitted an offer worth €30 million, while the Serie A minnows are holding out for €40 million.

Many observers believe the two parties could eventually find a compromise somewhere in the middle, potentially at €35 million.

Hence, the figures that the Premier League giants managed to trim by sending Antony on loan for the rest of the season could prove vital, as it could allow INEOS to make an extra commitment in their attempts to lure the young left-back to Carrington.

  1. Ineos and Sir Jim are hypocrites. Getting rid of jobs and cost cutting everywhere but willing to overpay by at least 15 million for an unproven player. Sir Jim and Ineos go on about FFP etc but how do Chelsea do it. The Glazers and Ineos are no good for this club and should sell up. They are destroying this club

    1. When Ratcliffe put one .2 billion into the club why did the glaziers not use it to pay the debt off the 750 million? They owe to the

      1. Because they aren’t interested in paying it off, they want the club to pay it & all the interest that goes with it,in the meantime they pocket all the money from Ratcliffe, they are the biggest crooks of all time, taking money out of the club whilst it crumbles away all around them!!!

    2. Sad,,the Arabs promised to clear all the debts at the club and make it efficient ..sadly the Glazer’s had satanic ideas.

    1. MU supporter s must boycott games, force these blood sucking Ineos and Glaziers out. Basically they done know running the club. Idiots

  2. That’s want the fans get for not forcing glazers out and arab monies in. The club. Would be in better position

  3. Ineos are having to cover up for 30 years of reckless deals. Woodward and Murtugh were given freedom to waste money buying over the market value, paying inflated wages and selling young talent for peanuts. Ineus need a couple of seasons to get things back on track.

  4. Selling Ganarcho will be the biggest mistake MU will regret for life. They did it to Scott Mctominay, Danny Welbeck, Angel Thomas, Anthony Elanga, Carrera and many others. They are all doing well in other clubs. MU is well known for not having patience in our promising youngsters. They have proven their mistakes by buying over the hill players at atrocious value and paying high wages.

  5. Why not promote players from the academy, they surely can do better than some of the highly paid flops.
