Ruben Amorim just wants a win from his first game as Manchester United’s head coach after making the trip to Portman Road where the Reds face Ipswich Town.
Amorim has only had a few days to prepare his players for today’s game, but he has already implemented change with a new 3-4-3 formation.
It’s not a system we can recall United players with in recent years, but it’s the start of a new chapter and you can’t help but understand why fans are excited about the future under Amorim.
He is aware that we have to win football matches but patience will be required for his style of play to come across. That said, he hasn’t wasted any time by setting high standards.
Looking relaxed in front of the cameras, Amorim spoke to the media ahead of the match and explained his team selection. Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot are set to play as wing-backs against the Tractor Boys.
“First win. I will be a happy man,” Amorim said his his pre-match interview with Sky Sports.
United need a win to climb into 10th in the Premier League, but we’ll be within touching distance of top four with lots of games to play this season.
Ruben Amorim wants his players to be comfortable
Amorim went on to explain that is was not difficult to get his ideas across to the players this season, so he will be expecting a performance of a certain standard against lesser opposition.
But he will soon learn that those teams can hurt you in the Premier League when you aren’t at your best.
“It’s not difficult,” Amorim added. “That [the time] is a key point and that we have to train. I try to put the players that I have more time to train and we will start in this way. We need to train, we need to pass the information to some of the lads. One training is not enough. I want my players comfortable and there will be time for everyone in this sequence of games.”
