Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a heartfelt message to Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim.

Amorim began work as United’s new boss at the start of the week and became the club’s second-ever Portuguese coach after Jose Mourinho.

The 39-year-old claims to be relaxed in his new surroundings as preparations begin for his first game against Ipswich Town.

Interestingly, Ronaldo and Amorim played alongside each other in the Portugal national team and they share the same age.

However, Ronaldo has yet to hang up his boots as he continues his playing career in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.

Amorim decided to retire from playing in 2017 before thriving as a manager and earning the United job.

He replaces Erik ten Hag in doing so and it has been well documented that Ronaldo didn’t see eye-to-eye with the Dutchman during his second stint at the club, which ended in tears.

Now, Ronaldo has given Amorim’s arrival his rubber stamp of approval.

After scoring a brace in Portugal’s 4-1 Nations League win over Poland, Ronaldo said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I wish Man United and Ruben Amorim the best of luck in the world.”

It was a great night for Portugal as they secured their place on top of Group A1 in the Nations League.

Moreover, Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet with a sublime strike from distance.

The United captain now has five goals and two assists in five matches for club and county.

Although Ronaldo left Old Trafford under a cloud, we can expect him to speak more positively about the club now that Ten Hag has left the building.

It always seemed very childish from Ronaldo, but hopefully we can finally build a bridge and get over it.

I still highly doubt Ronaldo and Ten Hag will be sending each other Christmas cards this year.
