Manchester United signed off for the international break with a 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League. It was Bruno Fernandes’ 250th appearance for Manchester United and the Portugal international showcased his attacking qualities to his next manager on a happy afternoon at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy ended his brief spell as United interim manager after four matches as he recorded three wins and one draw.

It was fitting that Fernandes would take centre stage as his performances have vastly improved under the former United striker. The Portuguese Magnifico failed to score a single goal under Erik ten Hag this season, although he has managed four goals in as many games since Van Nistelrooy stood into the role.

Fernandes opened the scoring at Old Trafford by curling his effort into the bottom corner from outside the penalty area. It was his first goal in the Premier League from open play, and he played a role in United’s second strike, stooping to head in a cross that deflected in off Victor Kristiansen.

United dominated throughout the game but the standard of performance dropped after half-time. That said, the Reds looked comfortable as Leicester rarely threatened Andre Onana. It was a welcome change to the traumatic home games we’ve previously endured at home.

Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench and looked lively before rounding off the win with a sublime strike into the top corner from distance to make it 3-0.

Van Nistelrooy saluted the fans after the full-time whistle and shared a moment in front of the Stretford End, with his name being sung loud and clear. It looked like a goodbye but only time will tell if Ruben Amorim keeps him at the club.

United fans made it clear to Van Nistelrooy that they appreciated his service to the club – as a player and coach. It was nice to sign off with a comfortable 3-0 win.

    So, here’s the plan.
We won’t hire any more “permanent” managers. Instead, we have a manager of the month – obviously club legends only – and we chop and change them constantly.
    It’ll be amaze-balls ⚽🏆⚽
