Manchester United are monitoring Alphonso Davies’ situation at Bayern Munich, although Real Madrid are understood to be front runners.

The Bundesliga giants are working on multiple contract extensions as several senior players enter the final years of their current deals. That applies to Alphonso Davies but it sounds like the Canada international will be leaving Bavaria next summer.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via YouTube, talks between Bayern and Davies have completely stalled. This in turn will put Davies’ potential suitors on red alert.

Romano believes it will take a miracle for Bayern to change this situation and for Davies to sign renewed terms.

The Italian journalist believes there is a 10% chance of Davies remaining at Bayern, so it would be fair to say they will soon start preparing for his exit.

Romano said: “What I can tell you today: Guys, they are not advancing at all and it’s end of October, so you can imagine how complicated it’s now to imagine a new contract at Bayern. The feeling of all the sources involved is that Alphonso Davies is going to leave Bayern as a free agent. To change this situation, it would take a miracle from Bayern. At the moment, the situation is still really tense, really complicated, between Bayern and Alphonso Davies.

“Let’s see if they can fix the situation, but sources say there is a 10% chance, no more than this – the expectation is for Alphonso Davies to go on a free transfer.

“We know about the interest of Real Madrid, they were there in the summer but never wanted to spend more than €25-30m. They were never going to pay €50-60m for Alphonso Davies [with him close to being] out of contract. There is still interest also from the Premier League for Alphonso Davies, so he’s going to consider all the possibilities, all the options.”

Bayern have not yet ruled out a new deal for Davies, but it is looking likely that he will be playing his football elsewhere next season.

Davies will be free to talk with interested clubs in January for a pre-contract agreement regarding a free transfer in the summer.

Bayern will be fuming that they are set to lose a world-class player for free. The German giants are usually praised for how the club is run efficiently, although this will come as a kick in the teeth.

Real Madrid have shown concrete interest in Davies over the last 18 months. They know there will be competition for his signature, but they will also be confident that they can get a deal across the line.

The Spanish giants will hope that United don’t hijack their attempts to sign Davies, like we did last summer when capturing Leny Yoro from Lille.

Barcelona and Manchester United are the other potential destinations for Davies.

It’s hard to see him going anywhere bar Madrid next summer.
