It’s difficult to decipher which Manchester United player out of Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes would’ve been left the most frustrated after last night’s Premier League opener.
While, of course, both will be primarily pleased to have got the campaign underway with three points, the two should’ve undoubtedly had their names on the score sheet alongside Joshua Zirkzee’s.
Fernandes had three shots on target, with chances that he – of all players- would’ve expectedly buried when in his most prolific form.
As for Garnacho, he was teed up by an unselfish Marcus Rashford in the dying embers of added time, with all the hard work done for him as he was left striking towards an open goal.

While the Old Trafford faithful were on their toes waiting to see the net ripple, the Argentine could only watch on as his shot somehow dragged wide of the post. After the full-time whistle blew just moments later, Ruud van Nistelrooy – one of the most prolific goalscorers in United’s history – headed straight over to comfort the youngster.

Nonetheless, Fernandes addressed his exasperating night on Instagram post-match, writing: “Nothing beats the feeling of being back at Old Trafford.
