Casemiro’s future is up in the air with Manchester United set to decide on a price tag for the Brazilian midfielder.
The Brazil international didn’t feature in United’s matchday squad for the FA Cup and there are doubts over the injury excuse given.
Casemiro briefly showed his face at the United’s FA Cup after-party on Saturday night but left early to go on holiday with his family. It doesn’t sound like the former Real Madrid star will return to Manchester.
According to The Mirror, Casemiro was hurt by his omission from the FA Cup final squad.
There have already been two departures at United this summer, with more to follow in the coming weeks. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial both confirmed that they will leave on free transfers, while United aim to sell some other players.
Football journalist and transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, claims United remain open to selling Casemiro in the summer.
The Italian reporter has been told that Casemiro’s price tag will be decided soon, amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Qasidiya.
However, there have been reports of United demanding £35m.
“I wanted to clarify some reports on Manchester United,” Romano said in his CaughtOffside column. “We know there will be some players leaving the club this summer, with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial already confirming that they will leave on free transfers, but there will be some players sold as well.
“My information remains that Manchester United are open to selling Casemiro in the summer. This remains clear, and although there have been reports of United wanting around €35m for the midfielder, I’m told the price tag will be decided soon. In any case, Casemiro could leave United in the summer transfer window, as there is interest from Saudi, though no formal proposals yet.”
Casemiro had a terrible season in terms of performances and I cannot see anyone spending £35m on him this summer. He was a million miles away from the standards produced in his debut campaign and it’s time for United to sign a younger alternative.
Hopefully, he is open to moving to Saudi because that is the only way I can see United getting a decent fee for the past-it midfielder.
