Michael Olise reflects on memories against Manchester United

Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise will attract plenty of attention when Manchester United travel to Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Not only is Olise one of Palace’s top two players, along with Eberechi Eze, but the winger is being heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United. Recent reports suggest INEOS have identified him as a key target for the summer transfer window.

Olise scored an incredible goal against United last season and he is looking forward to facing the Reds again tonight. He told Premier League Productions (via Crystal Palace official website): “I’ve seen the goal back plenty of times now – it was a good goal, I guess.

“I think even if you try to escape you can always see it, so there’s no point saving it [clips of the goal]. You see it sometimes, sometimes you don’t, but yeah, it’s mostly just a goal’s a goal.

“[As for Manchester United] to be honest, I don’t really look at the opponents – it’s more focus on ourselves, see what we can do, bring to the game and from there just take it up.”

Those responses read like they are coming from a player who would rather do a lot of things over pre-match interviews…

The Eagles are currently playing under Oliver Glasner, who has been a significant upgrade on Roy Hodgson since landing the risky job in February.

Furthermore, it has not been the easiest campaign for Olise due to injuries. The 22-year-old has played just 485 minutes at Selhurst Park this season, scoring four goals and assisting seven, with only Jean-Philippe Mateta racking up a better goal contributions tally.
