Harry Maguire ruled out for three weeks with muscle injury

Harry Maguire has been a mainstay in Manchester United’s defence during a season that has seen Erik ten Hag’s defence depleted by injuries.

Now, it looks like we could face Crystal Palace on Monday night without a recognised centre-back, unless you count Jonny Evans, who has only returned from a three-week lay-off with injury and hasn’t played since then.

According to a brief update shared on Manchester United’s official website, Maguire has sustained a muscle injury that will keep him out of action for about three weeks.

This means Maguire is touch and go for the FA Cup final against Man City at Wembley. It comes at a bad time ahead of the Euros, but Maguire would have been looking forward to a busy end to the season in terms of games.

Maguire has started United’s past six matches.

The Reds are currently eighth in the table with four games remaining. They take on Palace on Monday, then host Arsenal and Newcastle before heading to Brighton for our league finale.

It has irked many fans that United keep picking up these injuries in training. Personally, I think it says more about the squad as a whole (rather than Maguire, who rarely gets injured) than the coaching.
