Andre Onana was seen applying Vaseline on his goalkeeper gloves during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
The reason for this is when Vaseline becomes wet, it helps to improve the grip of a glove which ruins the condition of the latex gloves.
According to the Daily Mail, Onana’s representatives are in talks with the company GloveGlu, which aims to help goalkeepers improve the grip and condition of their gloves.
It is believed GloveGlu are in talks with United’s goalkeeper glove supplier Rinat, with the view of the club using their grip spray over Vaseline or other alternatives going forward.
Onana is reportedly interested by this and has already been sent a bottle of the spray to trail in training, or maybe United’s next game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
It is only a matter of time before the Cameroon international will be able to tell if the spray works better than Vaseline.

Onana has eight clean sheets in 31 matches this season and he will be aiming for more before the campaign comes to a close.
There was a lot of confusion over Onana putting Vaseline on his gloves during United’s draw against Liverpool.
Mark Bosnich, who played for United, Aston Villa and Chelsea across two decades in the Premier League, spoke about the incident to Sky Sports News.
The Australian said: “He was outstanding in the first half, Onana. He’s had his ups and downs, there’s no doubt about that.
“With everything that’s going on on social media with the vaseline on the gloves, lucky for him, he was outstanding, because that would have been the punchline of many a joke everywhere around the world if one of the balls was slipping through.
“The only thing that I can think of is that it helps his grip. A lot of goalkeepers like to have their gloves a little bit wet sometimes, because I think the grip that’s on it, the rubber, can be so stringy that it takes a bit of feeling out of the hands.
“But the best person to ask is obviously the goalkeeper. The only thing I can think of is that he feels as though it makes his grip more comfortable.”
