Martinez returns: confirmed Manchester United line-up vs Brentford

Manchester United are looking to build on that stunning win against Liverpool prior to the latest set of international fixtures as the Reds make the trip to face Brentford.

Amad Diallo’s 121st-minute winner in that game sealed a place in next month’s FA Cup semi-finals but Erik ten Hag’s men are still in the running to qualify for next season’s Champions League, having looked to be out of the conversation for the majority of the campaign.

Six points separated United and Tottenham going into this weekend’s fixtures, with the London club winning their game. Aston Villa, in fourth, are nine points clear but United have played one fewer game.

Last week, it emerged that Lisandro Martinez is ahead of his recovery schedule and could even be in the squad to face Brentford and that was confirmed by Ten Hag in his pre-match press conference, confirming the Argentina international is back after nearly two months on the sidelines.

And now, Ten Hag has named his side and Martinez is back in the squad, taking a place on the bench alongside Casemiro.

Rasmus Hojlund, who has not featured in the Premier League since his two-goal show against Luton Town, is also back in the starting lineup.

Hojlund could score in his seventh consecutive Premier League appearance, having already become the youngest player to score in six straight games.

Confirmed Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka; McTominay, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
