Alejandro Garnacho earns praise after first start for Argentina

Alejandro Garnacho made his first start for Argentina against Costa Rica.

Before this morning’s 3-1 win over Costa Rica, Garnacho had made four appearances for the Argentina national team, with all of them coming from the bench.

The game was won by three second-half goals from Angel Di Maria, Alexis Mac Allister and Lautaro Martinez.

However, Argentina had to come from behind after Costa Rica opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

Garnacho experiences first start on the international stage

The United starlet played 71 minutes before being replaced by Inter Milan’s highly-rated Martinez. TyC Sports claim Garnacho had a “solid performance” despite being heavily marked by Costa Rica.

Garnacho played on the left wing and managed two shots on the night. He touched the ball 57 times, registering two key passes and one cross, as per Sofa Score.

Of course, Garnacho is the second United player to earn his first international start during the March international break. Kobbie Mainoo, who made his England debut against Brazil last week, started his first game for the Three Lions versus Belgium last night.

The sky is the limit for Garnacho – as well as Mainoo – which means the future is bright for United. Hopefully, the rest of our players can return from international duty without any knocks or niggles.

Garnacho debuted in the Argentina national team on the tour of Asia and Oceania in June 2023, in a 2-0 win over Australia in China.
