Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been keeping tabs on Scott McTominay’s situation at Manchester United in recent months.
The Scotland international is, out of nowhere, overseeing a more prolific campaign than almost all of the side’s forwards. He ranks second in United’s top goalscorer list behind Rasmus Hojlund with nine to his name, having added to his tally with a pivotal opener against Liverpool last Sunday.
McTominay went on to assist Marcus Rashford in extra-time, playing through the Englishman who was then able to curl a driven strike past Caoimhin Kelleher and draw the tie level.
This season, the midfielder has had to come to terms with playing a more reduced role. He was a mainstay on the teamsheet while Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo were sidelined but dropped to the bench when the pair returned and now faces competition from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.
As per Fraser Fletcher speaking to MufcMPB, Spurs have ‘looked at’ McTominay this season. West Ham United may also reignite their pursuit after having a £30 million bid rejected last summer; at the time, the Reds valued him closer to £45m, so his red-hot goalscoring form may have increased his price tag this time around.
Previous reports have suggested that new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe would be open to sanctioning the 27-year-old’s exit.
