A new report today suggests that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering meeting with Alejandro Garnacho during his trip to Manchester in April.
The European giants take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, with the second leg of the tie penned in for April 17 at the Etihad.
Madrid have long been linked with the Manchester United starlet despite his previous ties to cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid, where he spent five years of his youth career before making the move to United in 2020.
He was born in the Spanish capital and opted to represent their national team until Under-18 level, after which he switched his allegiance to Argentina, whom he is elegible to play for through his mother.
Garnacho, 19, has become an integral part of Erik ten Hag’s project at Old Trafford and has now cemented a place in the starting 11, keeping his £86 million counterpart Antony on the bench in the process.
Los Blancos already have world-class options available in the youngster’s position and it’s expected that Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe will be completing his highly-anticipated free transfer to the Bernabeu this summer. As such, it’s unlikely that Garnacho would be open to having his game time reduced so significantly.
Over the past two seasons, he’s come on leaps and bounds in his development, and he’ll only continue on the upward trajectory the more experience he gets under his belt.
