Manchester United make expensive flop available for €40m this summer

Manchester United have reportedly decided to sell Jadon Sancho permanently in the summer knowing they lose out on a lot of money by selling him for significantly less than what they paid for his signature in 2021.

It was Borussia Dortmund who took advantage of the £73 million deal three years ago because his time at United turned into a disaster.

Sancho arrived at Old Trafford with huge expectations, but he never settled in the team and had a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag this summer that should ensure that he never plays for the club again.

That is essentially the reason United sent the 23-year-old on loan in January. There was no point keeping him whilst being told to stay away from the first team, especially for the remainder of the season with his valuation taking further hits.

The latest from the German publication BILD is United “would be willing” to consider letting Sancho go if they can get €35-40m for him. It was always clear that the Reds would have to take a financial hit on their expensive flop because we now find ourselves in a desperate position.

While Dortmund reportedly want to keep Sancho they also face an obstacle with his hefty salary. The England international will be left with no other choice but to take a wage cut if he wants a permanent return to Signal Iduna Park.
