United’s summer pursuit of young centre-back could be scuppered by high-spending PL rivals

Chelsea are believed to have registered their interest in Manchester United-linked defender Leny Yoro, as per TeamTalk.

The 18-year-old has quickly become one of the most sought-after prospects in Europe in recent months after cementing a starting role for Lille at such a young age.

United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain had already been deemed keen admirers of the talent before the Stamford Bridge outfit added their names to the mix. Now that we’re closing in on the final stages of the campaign, clubs are already putting plans into place for the summer window.

As for the Red Devils, they’ll be operating for the first time under INEOS’ guidance, which could see less of Erik ten Hag’s picks, like Antony and Mason Mount, and more of senior scouting figures’.

Reports have suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is adamant about building his squad with a spine of British talent, hence the links to England international Jarrad Branthwite, as well as youthful players who can help kickstart a new era in M16. Yoro could be exactly that.

The teenage starlet has already made 24 Ligue 1 appearances this term and aided Lille on their way to claiming 14 clean sheets. He’s also notched two goals in that time, proving he can provide on both ends of the pitch.
