Mason Mount accelerates training plan ahead of highly-anticipated first-team return

Manchester United are continuing preparations ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final meeting with fierce rivals Liverpool, with Mason Mount continuing to impress in his return from injury.

Following his £60 Million move from Chelsea in July 2023, United’s new number seven had supporters purring in anticipation of his integration into Erik ten Hag’s first team. But, much to the dismay of the 25-year-old, injuries have ravaged his start to life in Manchester, with the player making just 12 appearances.

But Mount has a determined character and, as reported by United’s official website, he has been working tirelessly with the club’s medical staff and displayed a positive mentality since returning to training.

Throughout a season that has been largely underwhelming, Ten Hag’s squad is ravaged with injuries and selection issues. The former Champions League winner is reportedly chomping at the bit to aid in a top-four challenge, with the Londoner a popular figure in the dressing room.

In addition to the weekend meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s side, there are ten crucial Premier League games left to play, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe eager for qualification for next season’s Champions League.

It is unclear when Mount will be back in contention for minutes, with supporters hoping for positive information from the manager during his next pre-match press conference scheduled for Friday.
