Denmark head coach drops Rasmus Hojlund hint ahead of Liverpool clash

Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand has hinted that Manchester United striker mark his comeback from injury in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final final against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

This would be a huge boost for the Reds, who have had to play without a recognised centre-forward in recent weeks. It felt like a throwback to last season but thankfully Hojlund looks set to return and we’ll have our new goalscorer back in the team.

Hojlund has been missed in each of United’s last four matches due to a muscle problem, but that has not stopped Hjulmand from selecting the forward for Denmark’s upcoming internationals.

The Denmark manager was speaking to Danish outlet Campo.dk, saying: “It is clear that Rasmus will play on Sunday against Liverpool and must get through the game well. We expect that. We are in contact with United. I have spoken to Erik, and we expect that to happen. But it is clear that he has to get through the game, and there must be nothing on the other side for that to be possible [to get called-up for international duty].”

Perhaps Erik ten Hag forgot to put an embargo on revealing that information on Hojlund’s return, but I guess he was always likely to announce it in his pre-match press conference later this week.

Thus far United have not confirmed that Hojlund will return in time to face the Scousers.

Our fingers are firmly crossed.
