Jadon Sancho blames Erik ten Hag for downturn in his career

Jadon Sancho would turn down a route back to Manchester United to play under Erik ten Hag, according to reports in Germany.

The problem for the England international is that he is under contract at United until 2023, and the reality of the situation is the biggest decision on his future will come down to the club and the manager.

In an ideal world, Sancho would be pulling up trees in the Bundesliga and United would have no shortage of offers for the 23-year-old this summer, but I don’t think that will be the case.

Sancho only managed to score his first goal since his return to Dortmund against Werner Bremen at the weekend.

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl reportedly wants to do everything in his power to bring Sancho to Dortmund until (at least) 2025, despite being unable to pay anywhere near the same wages he earns at United. That means Sancho will be left with no other choice but to take a pay cut.

According to German publication BILD, Dortmund are trying to plot a ‘secret Sancho plan’, which could see the winger loaned out for another season.

The report adds that Sancho does not want to return to United coach Ten Hag, who he blames for his career downturn.

Sancho is an example of what we don’t need at the club if he’s still unwilling to take responsibility for his actions. What would happen if footballers took to social media or got upset everything a manager gave them constructive criticism?

  1. Another story of a player with talent not wanting to “work” to improve. Once he got to MU he didn’t apply himself and now blames ETH. His ship has sailed for MU. Jim and company looking at younger players to develop is the best way. He was a “big fish in a small pond” in the Bundesliga but to be a “big fish in a big pond” you have to work at it, which he did not!
