A pivotal month awaits: Manchester United’s March fixture list

Manchester United have four fixtures on the horizon in March, all of which will be absolutely crucial to their season as a whole.

Prior to the 2023/2024 campaign kicking off last August, you’d have hoped that the side would be entering March comfortably in the top four and still in the race for all four trophies on offer.

Erik ten Hag would’ve been looking to build on a generally impressive opening year of his tenure, in which he ended a six-year trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup, reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League, the FA Cup final and finished third in the Premier League.

Alas, things took a turn for the worst in his sophomore season. Out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup by Christmas and left playing catch up in the top-four race. Currently, they sit eight points away and the odds are stacked against United, as seen in all the betting sites reviewed at AllBets.tv.

March also holds a quarter-final clash against fierce rivals Liverpool, who are yet to make the trip to Old Trafford this campaign and now will do so twice before Jurgen Klopp bids farewell. The prospect of reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup is motivation enough, but the players will know that the prospect of dampening the German’s goodbye tour would go down incredibly well with fans.

March 3: Manchester City (A) – kick-off 3.30pm / PL

Pep Guardiola’s side have, unfortunately, just found form at the right time as they look to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool. Every point is vital at this stage of a campaign and getting one over on your cross-city rivals is an opportunity you have to take with both hands.

March 9: Everton (H) – kick-off 12.30pm / PL

The deflated Toffees have had their spirits brightened slightly by being awarded four of their 10 deducted points back, moving them out of the relegation zone and five points away from the bottom three – so still not entirely safe.

March 17: Liverpool (H) – kick-off 3.30pm / FA Cup QF

Old Trafford will be riled up and ready for it, the players have to match that energy on the pitch. All to play for.

March 30: Brentford (A) – kick-off 8pm / PL

We all know how last season’s trip to the Gtech Community Stadium went and the Bees now face a battle for survival following a poor run of form. In the reverse fixture, it took two Scott McTominay injury-time goals to secure the win. This time needs to be more convincing.
