Man United make Mason Greenwood decision with Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking the call

Mason Greenwood is not expected to be allowed to go with Manchester United on their preseason tour of the United States, as reported by the Daily Star.

This is the clearest indication so far that Man United plan to sell the controversial player in the summer.

Greenwood joined Spanish club Getafe on loan back in September, where he will spend the season.

The English forward was transferred to Spain as a result of a United inquiry into his behavior, which began when the Crown Prosecution Service dropped police charges against Greenwood in February 2023 for attempted rape, violence, and coercive control—all of which he denied.

Club executives are worried that having the forward among their ranks on the preseason tour would have a bad impact on the team, their sponsors and their business partners.

In July, United will go to America to play games in San Diego, Los Angeles, and North Carolina.

The tour will feature high-profile matches against Arsenal and Liverpool, two Premier League rivals, which are sure to draw a lot of interest and spectators.

As word spread that United was thinking of adding him back to the team, they received a tremendous amount of anger.

Major football decisions are now made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was not present during the first probe. The billionaire acknowledges that they will review the matter in order to assess Greenwood’s character and determine whether or not he could realistically play for the team again.

The main concern is that Greenwood may start to become an unwanted distraction. That implies that in order to avoid the possibility of the situation developing into yet another massive crisis, Ratcliffe and the club’s hierarchy will need to decide on Greenwood before the end of the season.

  1. The issue of Mason Greenwood is unnecessarily being over flogged. There is no human being on earth that does not make mistakes. The world can see how talented he is. I’m sure, those who are calling for his outright sale are not true Man Utd supporters. Every serious club would want to have Greenwood in their team. Please keep him.

  2. The board are being biased, taking the issue as if none of them has passed through it. Yes, he’s made a mistake, it can happen to anyone. So please, I will urge the red devil board members to overlook it, and allow the talented guy to showcase his talents for his dream team club.
