Boost for Erik ten Hag as PL rivals begin scouting replacements for United-linked centre-half

Everton are reportedly scouring the market for centre-halves following speculation of Jarrad Branthwaite’s potential exit.

Amidst the Toffees’ tumultous term of a points deduction, flirting with relegation and another Profit and Sustainability Regulations violation hanging over their heads, Branthwaite has been one consistent silver lining.

The 21-year-old has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in Europe for emerging defensive talents, having already cemented a place in Sean Dyche’s starting 11.

He spent the 2022/2023 campaign on loan with PSV and played a pivotal role in their season that culminated in the Dutch side lifting the KNVB Cup. Then-manager Ruud van Nistelrooy was keen to extend Branthwaite’s stay at the club, however, Everton made plans to integrate him into their senior squad.

Reds eyeing Branthwaite swoop

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Englishman after a term of non-stop injury woes plaguing their backline. As well as that, reducing the general age of the defensive department will undoubtedly be in INEOS’ minds; Harry Maguire is now 31, Raphael Varane, 30, Victor Lindelof, 29, and Jonny Evans, 36

As per The Mirror, Everton are tracking Hull City’s Jacob Greaves, as they brace for summer interest over their sought-after stalwart.
