Rasmus Hojlund picks up award after stunning February performance

Rasmus Hojlund finally arrived at Manchester United after the new year, with the Danish international scoring 7 goals in his last six Premier League appearances.

Hojlund endured a wretched goal drought until Boxing Day but once the forward opened his account, the goals have been flowing.

The 21-year-old has grown into a reference point on the pitch and his current injury absence has hit the team where it hurts, with United left with little to no threat in the final third.

His stunning performances in the league have now been recognised, as Hojlund has been named United’s Player of the Month for February.

As per the official Manchester United website, Hojlund picked up the award from Alejandro Garnacho, who was the recipient of the January award.

Hojlund scored five goals in four appearances in February, helping United close the gap to fourth-placed Aston Villa to just five points prior to his injury.

He is also in the running to be named the Premier League Player of the Month, with voting currently undergoing to determine the latest winner.

Hojlund is expected to be on the sidelines for at least another week and will not be fit for this weekend’s derby – a huge blow for Erik ten Hag’s men.

In his absence, there are a number of ways Ten Hag could opt to play. Marcus Rashford could take up the central position, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony on either side.

Bruno Fernandes could also be pushed wide, with Scott McTominay playing a more advanced midfield role. As things stand, that looks like to more likely option.
