Dan Ashworth could sign £80m Premier League attacker for Man United

Once Dan Ashworth starts working at Old Trafford, he could try to convince Wolves winger Pedro Neto to join Manchester United.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has confirmed the name of the clubs who are interested in signing the Wolves attacker and how much the Premier League club will demand for their most prized asset.

Ashworth, 52, is presently on gardening leave after informing Newcastle that he would like to take over as Director of Football at Old Trafford; the Guardian reports that the Magpies are demanding £20 million.

If Ashworth takes over at Old Trafford, he could try to sign Neto, a transfer target of Newcastle United.

Transfer expert Ornstein wrote in The Athletic: “It is no secret that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United (perhaps Manchester United, too, with Dan Ashworth moving there from Newcastle) are all admirers of the Portugal international, although they may harbour some reservations about his fitness record.

“It would also take around £80m for Wolves to part with Neto, as I understand it.”

With just 19 games, the Portugal international has already had a tremendous season with Wolves, bagging three goals and dishing out eleven assists.

One of those goals was against United when he made the score 3-3 but a late goal from Kobbie Mainoo secured a dramatic 4-3 win for the Red Devils in the end.

Neto would be a perfect signing for United who are looking to strengthen the right-wing position.

Alejandro Garnacho has been in fine form when deployed in that position but he is still too young and in order to compete in different competitions, squad depth is important.

Neto can do what the fans expected from Antony when he joined the club.
