Manchester United host Fulham this weekend in the Premier League and Marco Silva knows his side must find a way to stop Rasmus Hojlund from continuing his goalscoring form.

Hojlund’s goals have helped United to five wins on the spin to kickstart their push for a Champions League spot.

Fulham boss Silva has hailed United’s in-form stroker ahead of their trip to OId Trafford.

Silva praised the 21-year-old striker who has six goals in as many games.

“You can see the talent and the quality,” Silva said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “Since he arrived you can see that he’s a young striker and young players need time to adapt and understand the ideas. When they start to score they become more confident and I can see this in Hojlund.

“He is a really strong player when he attacks in behind and it’s clear for me that he has the capacity to have a very good run while he is at Manchester United. Let’s hope we can block and defend him well because he’s a good player.”

It is a clear sign that Hojlund has turned things around that opposition managers are speaking out ahead of games about him being a threat. They could also do this to try get into the young forward’s mind.

That said, I wouldn’t be worried about Hojlund’s character.

Fulham will be without key player Joao Palhinha for the next two matches due to suspension. The Portuguese defensive midfielder picked up his 10th yellow card last Sunday.

“He is a really important piece of our team and plays in an important position,” Silva explained.

“We don’t want to take from Joao the aggressiveness which he plays with but at the same time we’re working with him to get the balance in some situations.”
