Gary Neville to make festival debut with DJ appearance

Just days after making his Dragons’ Den debut on the Beeb, Gary Neville looks to be turning his hand to music this summer.

The former Manchester United right-back must be one of the busiest people around.

Neville, 48, always seems to be managing multiple roles whether it’s pushing The Overlap podcast, commentating on Premier League games for Sky Sports, or buying property in Manchester.

The former captain has now been named as one of the acts for Kendal Calling.

Fear not if you’ve got Kendal Calling tickets

I highly doubt Neville will be singing on stage – ala Eric Cantona – so I don’t think gig goers need to worry about that. The former England international will be taking to the stage with a DJ set, alongside Tim Burgess from The Charlatans.

Speaking about working with Neville, Burgess said (via BBC): “I’m very excited about the prospect of DJing with Gary – he’s got great taste in music.

“Last time we shared a stage was when he joined The Charlatans on guitar. I can’t promise ’e’ll be doing any songs together but there might be an impromptu singalong at some point.”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Paulo Nutini are among this year’s headline acts. They will be joined by The Streets, Paul Heaton with guest singer Rianne Downey, and rock band Keane.

Tickets are still on sale for Kendall Calling, which will take place from 1-4 August at Lowther Deer Park.
