24-year-old midfielder claims he is flattered by Manchester United interest

Amidst rumours of Manchester United’s interest, the £17 million-rated midfielder of Atalanta, Ederson has claimed that it is nice to be associated with some of Europe’s best teams.

Having signed Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund, scouted Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta, it seems like Manchester United are returning to the Serie A club to sign a midfield enforcer.

Ederson, the aggressive and industrious 24-year-old, is being watched by the Red Devils, according to Goal Brasil.

The defensive midfielder has scored five goals for Atalanta in 19 Serie A starts this season. He fits the profile of replacing Casemiro at Old Trafford.

Man United, Newcastle, Juventus and Barcelona are all involved in the race to sign the highly rated midfielder.

“Being looked for by big clubs? This is normal when the transfer market opens, for some situations to come up,” Ederson tells Sky Sports Italia.

“It happened in Brazil, it happened when I was at Salernitana…”

“For me, it’s better this way. It means that I’m doing well and that there are many people watching me,” he adds. “It always happens with the transfer market.

“But the most important thing is to do well at Atalanta, and I’m doing very well here.”

Given the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, the Serie A club will want significantly more than the reported £17 million fee.

After a challenging season marred by injuries and poor form, Casemiro could be shipped out to Saudi Arabia as INEOS attempts to reduce United’s wage bill. If that happens, Ederson would be the like to like replacement of the former Real Madrid midfielder.
