Free agent David de Gea in no rush to make decision on his future

The transfer window is open for January, but David de Gea is still taking his time before committing to a new football club after leaving Manchester United at the end of his contract.

Erik ten Hag opted to bring a new goalkeeper to Old Trafford this season after De Gea had a contract offer taken off the table by United. That man is Andre Onana and he will play his final game against Tottenham this weekend before jetting off to the AFCON.

Anyway, there’s no point crying over spilled milk.

De Gea’s final appearance for United came in the FA Cup final defeat against Man City at Wembley.

The Spaniard is still without a club and respected journalist Fabrizio Romano believes he is in no rush to make a decision on his future.

“It’s still very quiet for David de Gea and there’s still no decision to be made with regards to his future,” Romano said in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

“He will take time with his family to decide but I’m not aware of anything imminent.

“He’s just waiting, nothing has changed since October when he was not convinced by proposals received in the final weeks of the summer window.”

It is understood that De Gea has had offers from Spain, Saudi Arabia and the US.

De Gea sounds very relaxed for a man that could return to competitive football. Could this be the end of his playing career?
