‘He’s better than Alejandro Garnacho’ – Man United legend praises 21-year old star

According to former Manchester United defender Paul Parker, Alejandro Garnacho is not the best young winger at Old Trafford.

Garnacho has made his place in the Manchester United starting XI after a run of impressive performances this season. It would not be wrong to say that the young winger is one of the first names on the team sheet now. The Argentinian attacker has started the last 15 games for the Red Devils.

However, former United defender Paul Parker wants manager Erik ten Hag to give chances to another young starlet at the club.

Parker believes  21-year-old winger Amad Diallo is actually better than Garnacho and wants to see him get more chances to shine.

“I thought Amad Diallo came on against Nottingham Forest and showed more than Antony has done since he arrived,” Parker told bettors.ng.

“He is very clever, and I think, right now, he is better than Garnacho, and he deserves to get the chance to get a run.

“Given Man United’s situation, Erik ten Hag has to give the lad a run. There is so much more in him as a wide player than all the other players. His pace can trouble any opponent.”

Amad was the star of the promotion chasing Sunderland team in the Championship last season. He scored 14 goals and provided four assists in all competitions in his season long loan at the club.

United signed Amad in January 2021, for an initial fee of £19 million from Atalanta and the deal contains possible add-ons for an additional £18 million. The Ivorian is under contract till June 2025, with the possibility of a 12-month extension.

Antony has failed to make an impact since his £86m move from Ajax, having not contributed to a single goal this season in 21 appearances. Amad deserves to get a proper chance in the team at the right-wing position.

  1. Saying Amad is better than Garnacho is a very subjective argument given that there’s no evidence supporting that assertion; we have not seen it yet… I’d say he shd be given more opportunities because he can be better than Garnacho sounds fair..

    1. Agree Garnacho has worked hard to prove he’s worthy to be starting.Diallo definitely should have an extended run in the starting line up there’s no doubt the youngster has a good future

  2. Get a proper manager and we will be the Kings again
I have supported United for 62 years and miss the courageous United that I am used to.

  3. Is he better than Garnacho in the moment?, certainly no, but he can be. He seems to have a football IQ than any of them, even Rashford. The 10 minutes I watched was extraordinary.

  4. Think we’d all love it if he was.

Amad has got a bit of the no. 10 in him, whilst Garnacho is direct, which is his strength.

Decision-making is what separates the one trick ponies from the class, so they’ve both got som way to go.

Everyone seems to have missed Amad’s role in Forest’s winning goal though – after Eriksen’s saved shot found it’s way to Amad, he should have played Eriksen straight back in for a simple winning finish ……… but he fluffed his lines and 20 seconds later, Forest got the winner.

  5. Am sure if Amad is given more games can be beta far away from Anthony compared to his Sunderland performance to Anthony’s.
Let Amad play as Anthony watches.

  6. We have tested Antony and no good results are coming from him. It should have been a long time decision to bench him and try young blood. The problem is that the coach plays Antony and he is the one who is making him a very bad coach. The coach has good experience with young players and he has no experience with big names

  7. United has always failed to give enough chances to African players. Am not being a racist but, how many have been given the time English and say other European players have been given when they’re Africans? This is not even about ETH, it’s about United as a team. Everyone knows Amad Diallo is a great player, one of the finest at the team but he’ll end up being sold off or swapped for some English or Scott player.
