Former Manchester United star Nemanja Matic eyes Premier League return

Former Manchester United midfielder and Rennes star Nemanja Matic is reportedly working for a move back to the Premier League because he is “unhappy” in France.

Matic joined the Red Devils back in 2017 in a deal worth £40m and signed a three-year contract with the club.

After making 121 appearances for Chelsea, the midfielder went on to play 189 times for United.

He could not replicate the success he had with Chelsea at United, where he won two Premier League titles, FA Cup and League Cup.

After a spell at Roma, the hardworking midfielder joined Rennes where everything has gone for him.

The player “is unhappy at Rennes and pushing for an immediate departure,” according to L’Equipe.

There are rumours that he is considering a return to the Premier League, and many teams are reportedly interested.

His experience at the top level and familiarity with the Premier League can be useful for a number of teams in England’s top flight.

With only 13 appearances for Rennes this season, he is desperate to rejoin the league where he played the best football of his career. According to The Sun, he is so desperate to come back to the Premier League that if he fails to do that, he might consider retiring from football.

If the latest reports are to be believed, the former United player has had trouble adjusting to his teammates and that there are issues with his kids’ education in France.

He is so determined to leave and end his chapter at the French club that he failed to show up for Tuesday’s Rennes training and tried to get out of Roazhon Park by emptying his locker.
