Video: Bruno Fernandes converts from the spot to extend United’s lead to 2-0 in FA Cup clash

Manchester United lead Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium in the sides’ third-round FA Cup tie.

The Reds have inched closer to booking their spot in the fourth round of the competition, in which they’ll face either Eastleigh or Newport County away from home.

Countless chances have fired astray since Diogo Dalot’s 22nd-minute opener, with Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay having seemingly left their shooting boots at home for this one.

Alas, United’s lead has now been extended to two goals in the 73rd minute thanks to a Bruno Fernandes spot-kick. The captain swiftly converted the penalty to notch his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.
