Manchester United hold formal talks over highly-rated Lille defender

Manchester United are keeping track of highly-rated Lille defender Leny Yoro.

The Reds will go in the transfer market this year for new defenders. I wouldn’t be surprised to see two centre-backs join this year as well as a right-back.

However, fans may need to wait until Ineos’ deal to acquire 25% of the club is ratified by the Premier League. At least that will set us up better for the summer transfer window.

United will spend the coming months identifying players they want in the summer, with players like Raphael Varane expected to leave this year.

One player attracting attention in France is Leny Yoro.

The 18-year-old is one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in European football after making 37 first team appearances for Lille.

According to Le10Sport, United have held ‘formal talks’ with Lille to try and sign Yoro.

The report claims United are ‘pushing hard’ to try and get a deal done, but Lille are said to have slapped at £78 million price tag on his signature.

Le10 Sport believe that £60.4m may be enough to persuade Lille into a sale. That is crazy money for a young defender.
