‘They will let you down’ – Gary Neville no longer trusts Manchester United to get results

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has expressed his disappointment after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League.

West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus scored second-half goals at the London Stadium as United fell to the 13th defeat to the season across all competitions.

In fact, it is our most defeats at Christmas since 1930, when the Reds were relegated from the top-flight.

Hopefully it doesn’t get that bad this season, but we’re still 12 points from the magic 40 which is what Arsenal have at the top of the Premier League for Christmas.

Moreover, United are currently eight in the Premier League and as many points adrift of the top four. Only bottom-place Sheffield United have scored fewer goals than the Reds this term.

Neville took aim at the team after Saturday’s result and rightly so. He told Sky Sports: “It doesn’t surprise me at all. What we’re seeing from this team, under any manager in the last seven or eight years, is pretty much the same.

“You can’t trust them, they will let you down. They give you a glimmer of hope and then they go and lose a game they shouldn’t lose.

“We’re watching an inconsistent bunch. Inconsistency is a really bad trait, in all walks of life.”

United have a difficult game up next on Boxing Day when Aston Villa come to Old Trafford.
