Manchester United fans are growing increasingly frustrated with neverending uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership following multiple reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s deal to acquire 25% of the club is imminent.
That has been the official line for quite a while now, with reports claiming Ratcliffe’s deal would be announced the following week.
That huge week has come and passed several times and the announcement is yet to come, which has led to some supporters wondering if it’s ever going to happen at all.
Now, over a year after Ratcliffe’s interest was first announced, journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive update on the matter, claiming the deal is not on the verge of falling through and despite the long wait, it’s still just a matter of time.
“From what I am hearing, Ratcliffe is currently focusing on employing the right people to put on the board at Man United as this is an important part of him having sporting control at the Premier League club. Ratcliffe wants to get this done first before any conversations start to happen about the manager’s future at Old Trafford.”
Ratcliffe was first lobbying to buy the club outright but after resistance from the Glazer family, a 25% sale was eventually agreed.
The Englishman will assume responsibility for the club’s football operations, which has been a positive surprise in the ordeal.
There are reasons to be cautiously optimistic, however, as Ratcliffe’s only track record is his topsy-turvy ownership of French club OGC Nice.
