Manchester United schedule January talks with Spurs over 26 y/o following key man’s injury scare

Manchester United will meet with Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks to hash out the situation with loanee Sergio Reguilon.

The Reds acquired Reguilon on deadline day to provide coverage for the injured Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, and while the latter has since returned to action for a brief spell of games, there are fears at the club that he may be facing another spell on the sidelines.

Shaw was forced off midweek as United were dealt the final hammer blow of their humiliating Champions League campaign, falling to a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich and consequently, dropping out of Europe entirely after finishing rock-bottom of their group.

He appeared to clutch his hamstring in the first half before being hooked at half time and replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Shaw’s problem was flagged just minutes after Harry Maguire was substituted with an injury scare, adding to Erik ten Hag’s woes and United’s debilitating fitness crisis.

Reguilon could be in line to stay the season

Reguilon, 26, has suffered with a number of setbacks himself this season and has been limited to just 10 appearances in the opening 24 matches; seven of which came as a starter.

The terms of his loan agreement include a break clause that could see him return to North London next month, however, ESPN states that United are awaiting confirmation of Shaw’s status before making a decision on Reguilon’s Old Trafford future.
