Manchester United don’t have a replacement for Casemiro now that the Brazilian is out injured until the new year. That raises questions about what we’ll do in the future when he leaves the club.
Former United striker Dimitar Berbatov has hinted that United should sign a replacement for Casemiro. The experienced Brazilian midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in early November and we won’t see him back in action until the start of 2024.
Casemiro’s absence comes a huge blow for Erik ten Hag because the manager doesn’t have alternative defensive midfielders to select from. The former Real Madrid ace proved to be the crucial link between defence and attack last term.
Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov suggested that United could make a move in the January transfer window, saying (via Dazn): “In the second season, you start to struggle and get injured. When you try to get fit, the team will probably look for someone else to come in and help.
“So, you’re going to have competition for your place when you’re back fit, so the situation gets thicker.”
With Casemiro now in his 30s, it was always going to happen one day that we would need to replace him in the team. The scouts should be sent to every corner of the globe to find the next best thing in the beautiful game.
