‘I know Jim well’ – Sir Alex Ferguson optimistic about Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is feeling ‘optimistic’ about Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s impending arrival at Old Trafford.

The former boss has given the green light to Ratcliffe, a man he knows, ahead of his 25% buy-in which has yet to be ratified by the Premier League.

Confirmation of Ratcliffe’s deal is thought to be very close, but the Ineos founder may have to wait until after Sunday’s trip to Everton for everything to be announced.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Ferguson said (via Manchester Evening News): “I am still a director of the club and I know Jim well. We shall have to see what he does but I am optimistic.”

Fergie was never going to go into great detail about his thoughts on Ratcliffe buying into United, but I would love to be a fly on the wall to hear his off the record comments on the Glazers and whether he thinks Ineos will be good for the club.

One thing we want to see is this being the beginning of the end for the Glazer family. Today marks the one year anniversary of when they announced plans to welcome investment.
