Bernardo Silva pledges to convince Portugal star to join Man City over United

Manchester United have been heavily linked to Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves.

The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after youngsters in European football, with Bruno Fernandes making it clear that he would welcome his arrival at Old Trafford.

“I would love to have him at United, he has top quality,” Fernandes said, as per The Express. “But it’s Joao choice. He’s a great player but it depends on the coach ideas! He will have a great future, in United or somewhere else.”

It is also believed that Man City midfielder and Portugal international Bernardo Silva has been working on a move for the talent to join the Premier League champions. All of this will play into Benfica’s hands because they will not be planning to let Neves got cheaply. His existing contract with the club could see them demand €120m for his signature.

The City star stated that he will work personally to bring the youngster to the north-west of England to link up with Pep Guardiola and co, saying (via The Metro): “If I can, I’ll make a move for Joao Neves to go to Man City instead of Man United, of course.”

Neves has been a revelation for Benfica since breaking into the first-team squad and now he’s an established Portugal international, with key players calling for him to join their clubs.
