Rio Ferdinand jokes about wanting Joleon Lescott’s 2012 Premier League winners medal

Rio Ferdinand has joked that he wants Joleon Lescott’s 2012 Premier League-winners medal hand delivered if Man City are stripped of their titles amid an investigation into their finances.

City could face a heavy points deduction after they were charged with a whopping 115 charges of the Premier League’s financial rules regarding sponsors and contracts across a duration of nine years (and counting). This news emerged in February and we’ve had little updates on it since.

Last week Everton were handed a 10 points deduction, which puts them 19th in the Premier League table.

Man City’s former financial advisor, Stefan Borson, has warned that they need to look over their shoulders following the Everton news, as per the Daily Mail.

In turn, Ferdinand wants a league medal after being part of the United side that finished second to City in 2012.

Appearing on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand made the joke about wanting Lescott’s medal.

“If anything happens with City and they get punished, Joleon, I want YOUR medal,” Ferdinand said. “Hand-delivered to my house and I’m wearing that medal. I’ll take that off Joleon.

“That Aguero moment has gone, right. So Joleon, just make sure you bring the medal yeah.”

It’s unlikely that City will be stripped of any titles achieved during the period for which they are being investigated but they should.
