Bruno Fernandes has responded to speculation over his future.
Although none of us think the Portuguese Magnifico will be leaving Manchester United anytime soon, it’s worth nothing that he has been subject to interest from the Saudi Pro League. Then again who isn’t?
Earlier this month, it was reported that an unnamed Saudi Pro League club were set to have talks with Fernandes’ agent to try and convince him, as per The Sun. But even at that point there was little chance of it happening.
Our club captain has way too much to offer at the highest level of the game to ditch Europe right now.
And, sadly, the money in Saudi Arabia is going nowhere. Fernandes would be silly to rush his career away.
Fernandes has finally had his say on the matter when asked about the links on international duty. Speaking to Sport TV Portugal, he said (via UnitedInFocus): “I’m focusing on the national team and United. I’m happy where I am. In the national team, we had some very good times, at Manchester United, we d’dn’t start the way we wanted.
“I didn’t look at rumours. I don’t pay attention to them. Today, it’s very easy to spread rumours in the press. I prefer to concentrate on my goals.”
Fernandes raises an interesting point that we wouldn’t have had such speculation if United started the season strongly but, as we’ve seen with bad results, rumours quickly attach and develop as the weeks unfold. He’s not the only United player linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Either way, Fernandes is too important a player to let go.
