Sir Jim Ratcliffe is negotiating a buy-in at Manchester United.
The British billionaire is reportedly trying to secure a 25% stake with talks ongoing.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ratcliffe has been holding extensive talks via video call with Joel Glazer ahead of a potential investment in the club.
The report in question also states that United chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough are at risk of being replaced in their roles.
Arnold has never been a popular figure at the club because he represents the Glazers, while Murtough hardly operates like a typical football director with United appearing reliant on SEG for assistance in the transfer market. That will change if Ratcliffe goes down the route of employing experts.
United fans will hope Ratcliffe has plans to replace the likes of Arnold and Murtough with experts in the industry. Someone like Paul Mitchell, who has standards and a strong reputation in the game.
However, with Ratcliffe set to acquire 25% of the club, fans will question if this will result in enough change at the club because the Glazers (our biggest problem) will remain. It doesn’t sound like they are going anywhere yet, although it should help us in the long-term if they had less power at the club.
Ratcliffe needs to find an end game for the Glazers. We have had enough of their greed.

Two-edged sword, this one. We’d all welcome more expertise in our buying and selling, and the increased success that hopefully ( almost certainly ) would follow. That would mean more money, so is likely to appeal to the leeches and gain their approval of Ratcliffe’s plans.
Downside is that it would mean more money, so is likely to appeal to the leeches.
