Roy Keane is the latest pundit to slam Manchester United for their performance in this afternoon’s Manchester derby after the Reds were comfortably turned over by their cross-city rivals.
Erik ten Hag’s men started the game positively but City quickly gained control and from there, there was no way back for United.
City took the lead by way of a controversial first-half penalty but United had created a few good chances and were unlucky to not score in the first half.
After the interval, City dominated completely and United were lethargic and out of ideas. Keane, who has played in his fair share of Manchester derbies, claimed post-match that City were ‘toying’ with their opposition.
“Man City weren’t even at their best, it was the same as the FA Cup final last season,” Keane told Sky Sports, via Football365.
“They’re just toying with United now. It was almost embarrassing for the players. They were short in every aspect of the game technically, tactically and worryingly even physically. United were so off it.
“Credit to Man City though, they’re an outstanding team. United… where do you start and where do you finish? It’s a long way back for this team.”
As Keane points out, there is a long way back for this team now as there is not a lot to encourage supporters that they are moving in the right direction.
United have been poor for an extended period now that dates back further than the start of this season and Ten Hag has a huge job on his hands.
The uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership has hardly helped the cause but five losses from the opening ten games is not pretty reading for Ten Hag and ultimately, the blame will fall on him at the end.
Anthony is a disgrace and should be sold with all other ex dutch league and ten Hag favourites, all below standard.
