Maguire starts: confirmed Manchester United lineup vs Copenhagen

Manchester United are still searching for their first points in the Champions League this season after losing their opening two games against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

Erik ten Hag’s men are in desperate need of some momentum in Europe to advance into the knockout phase but a double-header against Copenhagen is standing in their way.

The Danish giants have made the trip to Old Trafford and are currently third in the group and will be hoping to create some daylight between themselves and the Reds.

United last faced Copenhagen three years ago in the Europe League quarter-final when Bruno Fernandes’ 95th-minute sent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men into the semi-finals.

This evening, Erik ten Hag has named a strong side, with Rasmus Hojlund leading the line as expected. The young forward started his career at Copenhagen and he will be hoping to extend his goalscoring run in the Champions League, having scored three goals in his first two games.

Harry Maguire, who was one of United’s best performers in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United last weekend, keeps his place in front of Andre Onana.

Raphael Varane was only fit enough for a brief cameo against Sheffield United but he returns to the lineup tonight, with Sergio Reguilon making his return.

Further up the pitch, Casemiro is serving a one-match suspension, with Scott McTominay keeping his place in the side instead after goals in consecutive Premier League games.

Confirmed Manchester United lineup (4-2-3-1): Onana, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Reguilon, Amrabat, McTominay, Antony Fernandes, Rashford, Hojlund

  1. Where is Hannibal and the Turkish goalkeeper, I’ve reiterated numerous times on this platform, Mctominy must only enter the play about 20.minutes from time, onano and Antony should not be in the team, Bruno should never play full 90.minutes plus extra time nonstop forever and a day.
