Erik ten Hag outlines expected return timeframes for two long-term absentees at Manchester United

Shaw Wan-Bissaka

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the return of two currently-injured Manchester United players.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been out of action since August 19 and September 16 respectively; the left-back sustained a muscle problem while the right-back picked up a hamstring injury shortly after, leaving Erik ten Hag without his two first-choice fullbacks.

Their absences have proven detrimental to the Red Devils’ form at times this term, with their experience and ability sorely missed from the set-up in crucial matches.

As United approach the winter – a period in which the fixture build-up is like no other for top-flight teams – Ten Hag will be anticipating having the two players back at his disposal to bolster the squad and hopefully, turn their form around.

Ten Hag addresses injured Reds duo

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash vs Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, the Dutchman was quizzed on an estimated return timeframe for the two Reds.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “Of course, they are closer. But for instance, Luke Shaw, I don’t expect him back in this block of games. For instance, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, yeah, I don’t think he’s too far away for returning into team training. And so back in the team.”
