Sergio Reguilon reveals which United teammate has been crucial in him settling in at Old Trafford

Sergio Reguilon has expressed his gratitude to Casemiro after the Brazilian ensured he settled into Manchester quickly.

The fullback made a deadline-day switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United in the summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to acquire coverage in defence with a Premier League-proven addition.

It came after Luke Shaw sustained an injury and joined Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines and yesterday, it was confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had suffered a hamstring problem and would also be overseeing a layoff. It never rains, it pours.

However, Reguilon, having already made his debut against Arsenal, will now be granted a frequent run of games to showcase his abilities as a Red and hopefully, contribute to some wins and clean sheets.

Reguilon thanks Casemiro

The Spaniard gave some insight into his loan transfer and how Casemiro had done his utmost to make Reguilon feel at home; the pair are already well-acquainted due to the time they spent together at Real Madrid.

Reguilon told ICS, as quoted by ManUtd.com: “I really have so many good memories with him. A lot of games, training sessions and trips with him. He sent me a message on the first day when I arrived here, saying he could help me if I needed anything at all to do with the club – or the house – he said that he was here for anything I needed.

“I’m really grateful to him. I have so many people here who are helping me. Casemiro is one of them. It really makes you feel at home when you have people looking out for you from the very first day.

“I have always said that he is a leader on the pitch,” he continued. “He brings so much energy. He is so consistent. I think it is so important in football nowadays to have experienced players like him, who can push everyone to step up the intensity. He is a role model. I mean it’s hard to even know where to begin when you’re talking about his trophies, my goodness!”
