Andre Onana of Manchester United has been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or and the Yachine Trophy.

It comes after a year in which the Cameroonian was influential for Inter Milan, winning the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia in his first and only season at the club.

The Serie A giants also finished runners-up in last season’s Champions League campaign, falling at the final hurdle with a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. Onana was undoubtedly Inter’s Player of the Match.

He then opted to reunite with his former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford by completing a £47.9 million move this summer.

The nominees

Onana is among a star-studded list in both categories, including the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ederson for the Yachine Trophy (goalkeepers only).

In the running for the men’s Ballon d’Or with Onana so far are Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and other globally recognised icons.
