West Ham could reignite interest in Manchester United star before window closes – report

West Ham United could reignite their pursuit of Scott McTominay before the transfer window closes in September, as per the Evening Standard.

The Irons saw a £30 million bid swiftly rebutted for the midfielder last month, with Manchester United making it clear that they value McTominay in the region of £40-45m.

It seems highly unlikely that West Ham would part with such cash though, especially after signing experienced playmaker James Ward-Prowse from Southampton and Edson Alvarez from Ajax.

However, Standard’s report states that McTominay is ‘braced’ for further interest from the London club.

United unwilling to sanction McTominay exit

Still, United would be reluctant to accept a bid for the Carrington graduate even if a suitable offer comes in; not only is it late in the window to identify a replacement, but injuries have plagued the side already and Erik ten Hag will know that depth is crucial for the season ahead. For example, Mason Mount is facing a four-to-six-week layoff after making just two appearances since signing in July.
